Bunnan is a small village of 100 people located east of Merriwa in the Hunter region, 270km from Sydney.

Bunnan School of Arts [Literary Institute] was officially opened in 1913. The Hall was lined in 1926 and the Supper Room added in the 1950s. It was renamed Bunnan Memorial Hall when the local public school was closed and the district Honour Roll was re-located to the Hall on 29th August 1985. The Hall is managed by a local community committee and is still used for a range of social functions, meetings and other local gatherings.

The Bunnan Memorial Hall was in the news recently when there was a $10,000 allocation made to this charming hall in the Upper Hunter Council’s 2015 budget. This one-off budget item will fund the remediation of termite damage in the hall.
