Thurgoona is a suburb of Albury, 550kms from Sydney.

The Thurgoona School of Arts dated from 1913. It was built because local residents wanted a place to meet, to hold social functions, and to provide accommodation for a Library.

The School, built at a cost of some 600, served its community well for many years until it was demolished in the late 1980s.

At the end of WWI, a Roll of Honour was installed in the Hall listing the names of 24 local men who enlisted for the War of whom seven were wounded and four were killed.

When the School of Arts building was demolished, the Honour Roll was re-located to the then new Thurgoona Community Centre.
