What facilities did they provide?

Q&A #6

Dr Roger Morris, AM

President, AMISA

In order to achieve these goals, the School erected premises that offered a range of facilities (including all or some of the following):

  • a reference library
  • a lending library
  • a reading room
  • a museum
  • a workshop and/or laboratory
  • a large hall (for lectures, meetings and social events)
  • a supper room
  • smaller meeting and class rooms (one of which may been used solely for lodge meetings)
  • a billiards hall
  • a card (and other games) room
  • a room for ladies
  • a smoking room for men

In many towns and suburbs these were the only such facilities available so they were widely and almost constantly used.
