What facilities did they provide?
In order to achieve these goals, the School erected premises that offered a range of facilities (including all or some of the following):
- a reference library
- a lending library
- a reading room
- a museum
- a workshop and/or laboratory
- a large hall (for lectures, meetings and social events)
- a supper room
- smaller meeting and class rooms (one of which may been used solely for lodge meetings)
- a billiards hall
- a card (and other games) room
- a room for ladies
- a smoking room for men
In many towns and suburbs these were the only such facilities available so they were widely and almost constantly used.
